Dr. Riaz Mohammed. BASc DC
Chiropractic Doctor
Dr. Mohammed graduated from the University of Guelph-Humber, earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Years later, he obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC). During his time at the chiropractic college, he served as the president of the Student Canadian Chiropractic Association (SCCA), acted as the executive chair for the National SCCA, and held a directorial role on CMCC's students' council.
Following his tenure at CMCC, Dr. Mohammed pursued certification in medical acupuncture from the University of McMaster. He actively participates in various research teams, contributing to several publications in the field of musculoskeletal (MSK) research.
Currently, Dr. Mohammed is the founder and owner of the Malton Pain and Rehabilitation Clinic.
Dr. Nabil Tabar DC
Chiropractic Doctor
Dr. Tabar graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in 1978. With almost 45 years of experience he has treated a wide array of MSK conditions. Dr. Tabar has been the owner of multiple clinics in the GTA and has practiced in Malton for over 45 years.
Prashanthi Varatharajan
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Prashanthi began her journey into mental health studies while pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Toronto. She continued her education by attaining a medical degree from the University of Avalon in Ohio, which also involved completion of clinical rotations within Adolescent Psychiatry and In-Patient Psychiatry particularly focusing on women’s health. The decision to pursue her lifelong aspiration of becoming a therapist was fuelled by witnessing the transformative impact that resulted from creating space for people to feel seen and heard in the presence of empathy and in the absence of judgement. She completed her Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and is currently practicing as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).
Her counselling approach focuses on Narrative Therapy which acknowledges an individual’s potential to recreate their life’s story from a place of empowerment while practicing self-compassion, as they strive toward optimal well-being. Other significant areas of focus are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Therapy. In addition to counselling sessions, she facilitates psychoeducational workshops based on the principles of Positive Psychology with topics such as Resilience, Self-Compassion, Depression & Anxiety and Personality Psychology. Cultural sensitivity is prioritized as most of her patients are diverse individuals from marginalized groups who are suffering from anxiety and depression, along with first generation immigrants and those experiencing substance dependence. She is fluent in Tamil with a working knowledge of Hindi and Urdu.
Rashmikant Parmar PT
Registered Physiotherapist
Rashmikant Parmar is a dedicated registered physiotherapist in Ontario. He started his healthcare journey with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India. In 2007 he served as a physiotherapist in Ahmedabad, India, where he refined his manual therapy skills and honed in on his bed side mannerism.
Fuelled by a passion for sports injuries and rehabilitation, Rashmikant pursued further education, earning a Master's degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of Glasgow in 2010. His tenure in the UK expanded his expertise to include geriatric rehabilitation, enriching his holistic approach to patient care. With a diverse skill set encompassing neuro, musculoskeletal, physical conditioning, and various other physiotherapy domains.
Rashmikant established his own clinic in Mumbai, India from 2013 to 2015. Here, he provided personalized care, specializing in sports-related injuries and rehabilitation to a diverse array of patients.
Rashmikant's commitment to patient welfare is unwavering, evidenced by his comprehensive approach to treatment. Now practicing in Ontario, he continues to tailor effective treatment plans, leveraging his expertise to help individuals recover from injuries and optimize their physical performance through tailored exercise and rehabilitation programs.
Jianne Li R.TCMP, R.Ac
TCM Practioner/ Acupuncturist
Jianne is a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner and Acupuncturist. After graduating from the University of Toronto, Jianne pursued her passion in TCM and acupuncture at Humber College. Being a strong believer of a natural approach to medicine, Jianne uses acupuncture, cupping, Tuina massage, guasha, moxibustion and herbs to help improve quality of life and pain conditions. Jianne is particularly interested in treating digestive, emotional and musculoskeletal conditions, such as, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, insomnia, headaches, neck pain, muscle pain and weakness, and arthritis.
